Joephet R. Alcantara is a partner of the Firm and is involved in both the Firm’s transactional and civil litigation teams. Before joining the Firm, Mr. Alcantara was a junior partner at Mair, Mair, Spade & Thompson, L.L.C., a staff attorney for a legal services organization, and a law clerk for the Supreme Court of Guam.
Mr. Alcantara’s practice includes commercial work, administrative law, and civil litigation. His experience includes regulatory matters, federal civil litigation, insurance and institutional defense, appellate work, labor and employment, business planning, corporate governance and transactions, defending medical malpractice and negligence claims, and probate.
Mr. Alcantara’s experience further includes representing government agencies, such as the Guam Memorial Hospital Authority and the Guam International Airport Authority, with respect to human resources, risk management, federal, and regulatory matters. He also served as legal counsel for the Department of Mental Health and Substance abuse during the time when the agency was under the threat of receivership, and assisted the agency with coming into compliance with federal mandates.
Mr. Alcantara is a board member for the Office of the Public Guardian Review Board, and for the Compassionate Friends, Guam Chapter organization. Mr. Alcantara was born and raised in Guam.
